Bionomics:
Immatures found in all sorts of ground water habitats including lakes, ponds, and canals. Immatures also found in gutters, ditches and pools of clear water. (Horsfall 1955).

Medical Importance:
Reported as an important vector of human malaria by Mullen & Durden (2002).
