Bionomics:
Larvae found in tree holes with a small aperature opening into a rot hole with large water holding capacity (Galindo et al. 1956). Adults have been collected on human bait and occasionally in CDC light traps (Pecor et al. 2000)

Medical Importance:
Implicated as a potential vector of sylvatic yellow fever (Galindo et al.. 1956).
