Distribution:
Colombia, Panama, Peru, Venezuela

Bionomics:
The larvae are found primarily in Bromeliad leaf axils. Females readily bite humans usually in the late afternoon early evening time period (Zavortink 1973:18)

Medical Importance:
This species has been found carring Dermatobia hominis eggs and is a possible vector of malaria. (Zavortink 1973:18)
