Distribution:
Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam

Bionomics:
Larvae, found in open swamps and coastal rice fields, use specially modified siphons to pierce stems and roots of aquatic vegetation to obtain air. Females are crepuscular and bite man (Wharton 1962).

Medical Importance:
Vector of W. malayi (Carter 1950).
